Hello everybody. Welcome and thank you for visiting my website. My name is Barry B. Mixon and I am a Gemmological Storyteller. What is a “Gemmological Storyteller? Well the best way to describe what I do would be to call it a kind of mental and spiritual “Alchemy”. Alchemy, if you remember was a early Chemical process, where the practitioner, the Alchemist, would take a base metal and change it into Gold. Instead of a “base metal” I work with people, who because of their life experiences, might believe that they are a base metal. I take the Art•Science•History and Magic of Gemstones, combine it with the concepts and techniques that are universally used to identify, appraise and evaluate gemstones, minerals, and fine jewelry, in order to create a template or an “Inception Point”. for people interested in creating and putting together, their own stories. This “process” empowers people; gives people the ability to “Discover the Value of their Stories”. You will begin to realize that YOU are the Gold, Diamond, Ruby, Emerald or any other kind of gemstone you envision yourself being.
It is is my fervent belief that by looking through the lens of the wonderful world of Gemmology, I can empower people to begin to see themselves and perhaps even the World around them ….differently. The inherent Value of gemstones lies in their stories, therefore the ultimate purpose of this website is to tell stories about Gemstones and Value, then make the connection between those “Gem Stories” and People. Once you begin to understand some of the characteristics of gemstones, the chemical and molecular structures, the vast variety of colors, the geographic locations gemstones are found, the qualities…and all the quintessential elements that make a gemstone valuable, I believe that you will be truly hard-pressed not to see the same “Values” in people and most importantly in yourself.
